Our Origins :

 

Apoptosiys was founded in 2024 out of a search for value in the discarded. We started by reclaiming raw, found, and recycled materials, transforming them into intentional objects. It quickly became clear that this process was more than a design philosophy, it mirrored our own lived experiences of survival, reinvention, and self-creation.

 

The Biological Reality:

Too often, personal evolution is viewed through the lens of loss. When we shed old versions of ourselves, whether coming out, transitioning, shifting our expression, or walking away from past lives, the world tends to mourn who we used to be.

 

In textbooks, apoptosis is programmed cell death: the quiet, internal mechanism an organism uses to break down components that no longer serve it to make room for new growth. Without this process, the living system cannot flourish. It is not a violent rupture; it is sculpture.

 

Self-Preservation

For those of us rooted in the queer community (Vesperine) and for anyone who has ever had to fight to become themselves, this isn't a science lesson. It is how we survive.

 

Society frequently misinterprets growth as a tragedy, claiming we are erasing our past. We chose the name Apoptosiys because the exact opposite is true. Letting go of assigned roles and outdated structures is a necessary, intentional shedding. 

 

It is the conscious choice to dismantle the expectations, names, and old survival habits that suffocate us.

 

We take the raw pieces of our past, salvage what serves us, and leave the rest behind. We choose not to sustain obsolete parts of ourselves simply to maintain the comfort of others. Cell by cell, layer by layer, dismantling who we were told to be is precisely how we create who we are.
